On today’s podcast I welcome Jace Allen to the show. Jace hails from Missouri and is 27 years old, but has an incredible resume for a hunter his age, including a few Boone and Crockett caliber animals. Going against the times, Jace relies almost entirely on woodsmanship and glassing rather than trail cameras to locate and target mature deer. Jace and I dissect his methods, discuss early season tactics, finding vulnerabilities in a mature bucks area, Jace’s approach to ground hunting, and his plans for 2023.

On today’s podcast I catch up with Ethan Escue. Ethan is a relatively young guy at 25 years old, but in a few short years he has crafted quite the resume, regularly targeting and killing specific bucks in his home state of West Virginia. Ethan and I discuss his evolution into a hunter targeting specific bucks, glassing tactics for areas with minimal or no agriculture, trail camera strategy, post-season scouting, and the importance of hunting a specific buck instead of good areas when pursuing a target animal.

On today’s podcast, I talk with my good buddy Joel Maas. Joel and I met 10 years ago during a new employee orientation. We started talking hunting, and the rest is history. Now, 10 years and 7 or 8 out of state hunting trips later, Joel and I discuss some of our biggest mistakes and lessons learned that have helped us become much more proficient and efficient traveling hunters.

Welcome to episode 28 of the Going for Broke Outdoors podcast, a podcast by an outdoorsman for other outdoorsmen. I’m your host, Jeremy Gillespie.
Today’s guest is Jesse Krzyzanowski. Jesse hails from Wisconsin and exemplifies what I think of as the all around Midwestern outdoorsman as a deer hunter, turkey hunter, walleye fisherman and wild game cooking enthusiast. In this episode, we discuss Jesse’s introduction to the outdoors, hunting public land, traveling for out of state hunts, and Jesse and his identical twin brother Darin’s YouTube channel, which is called Gemini Ridge Outdoors.
A few quick notes before we jump to the podcast.
First, I want to thank everyone out there who has subscribed to my YouTube channel or my podcast on your favorite podcast app, I genuinely appreciate all the support. I’m closing in on 1,000 subscribers, and would really appreciate the support to reach that goal. Welcome to episode 25 of the Going for Broke Outdoors podcast, a podcast by an outdoorsman for other outdoorsmen. I’m your host, Jeremy Gillespie.
Today’s guest is Joe Gillespie. Joe happens to be my cousin and an aspiring elk hunter. By some miracle, Joe managed to draw a difficult to obtain elk permit for a limited entry area with very few points. In this episode, Joe and I discuss logistics for this fall, gear selection, an overview of purchasing and learning to use elk calls, physical fitness, and contingency and rescue plans in case of severe injury.
Quick note, Joe and I talk about gear in this episode, but if you’d like to see a full list of the gear I use every Fall, I’ve got a complete list on my blog at: https://going4brokeoutdoors.com/my-hunting-gear-list/

In this episode, Keith shares some of his highly advanced e-scouting methods, his tips for navigating the vast expanses of the bigwoods, his favorite tactics and setups for big woods bucks and a ton of help gear tips. I took away a lot of great information from this episode, and I know you will too!

Today’s guest is Shad Thornsberry. Shad is a long-time member of the Hunting Beast Forum and a very proficient public land deer hunter. In this episode we focus on Shad’s lessons learned from 30 years of hunting Michigan’s highly pressured public lands, which include gathering intel on other public land hunters, making use of hiking trails for clean access to stand locations, and how Shad maximizes his time in the woods by hunting areas based on seasonal changes. We also discuss finding the balance between family life and hunting season, and Shad’s preferred mobile hunting setup. This one is packed full of knowledge from a veteran of arguably one of the toughest places to get on good bucks, Michigan public land.
